Overflow Giving
He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses. Proverbs 28 27
I want to begin with a huge thank you in advance for all those praying and considering what your part and pledge will be in “Project Overflow.” Each financial gift to the project is a gift to the “poor in spirit” as well as a gift to the impoverished widow and orphan.
My hope is that no one in our body will close their eyes to potential of even the smallest gift given in the name of Jesus.
Over the month of June our goal is to collect each pledge adding to the $232,000 made by the leadership team. Part of my tangible plan of tracking and distributing the financial resources over the next 3 years include the following 7 suggestions put in place for all those contributing to Project Overflow.
- Accurately collect and record all pledges and accompanying information from all church family and friends contributing to Project Overflow for proper receipting of all donations. (June 2011)
- The 3 year time frame of “Project Overflow” begins July 1st 2011 and finishes July 1st 2014. (Clear beginning & ending for all donors involved to keep personal accounting up to date.)
- A preferred equal monthly giving plan is suggested over 36 months or a yearly one lump some giving in either December or June. Even a single onetime gift fulfilling your pledge entirely and early would assist far more than holding on to it until July 1st 2014. (This enables us to care for the cash flow needs outlined in Project Overflow throughout the year.)
- Clear lines of communication established between accounting office in the event of changes or individual’s needing to access their privately held information. (Special arrangements can be made direct with accounting if necessary.)
- No fewer than Quarterly updates will be made to entire church and to Donors on progress of ministry, mission and distribution of funds. (Accountability)
- Ongoing prayer and encouragement for all participants of Project Overflow will be made available for the successful fulfillment of pledges.
- Immediate release of any pledge made upon request without explanation. (Please, let us know of changes, it affects all those counting on us and can affect the entire project.)

The Promisedland Gala RECAP
We had a delightful RX4X Sunday here at MCC on MAy 29th. Worship, Baptisms, Teaching, and more in the Morning, then in the evening we had our Promisedland Gala where we celebrated what God has done and looked to the future and Project Overflow! Here are a few of the Highlights!
THE PROMISEDLAND FLASH MOB:
Veronica Wadinger:
One of our very own (Veronica Waldinger) has been actively involved with Emmanuel’s Wish, which is a vital part of Operation Pearl, the global outreach portion of Project Overflow. She shared with us at the Promisedland Gala about what GOD has been doing in her and Emmanuel’s Wish and what Mapleview’s support means to them!
Mamdouh Lawnedy:
We were also incredibly excited to have Mamdouh Lawnedy, our national connection for the Palestinian Outreach portion of Operation Pearl of Project Overflow. He shares with us about growing up in egypt and his current ministry in Gaza City in the Gaza Strip. We are excited to partner with him as we follow Christ’ call to reach the orphans and widows with the message and love of Christ and to treat our enemies as ourselves!
The Task Facility Building Concept: Part Two
“you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2.5
The church building and structure is here to stay. Yet make no mistake that only flesh and blood is now the only place that can be called the House of God or the Temple of the Holy Spirit. However, that being said buildings and architecture can reveal a Body of Believers’ mission. For effective community impact by a body of Believer’s in the 21st century it will be necessary to have a new millennium mindset. My opinion is that building and land should become a flexibility tool for Gods people to use in order to touch the multiple types of people existing in our community. That we become a vibrant healthy ministry in the community – caring for the many needs around us.
Believers in Jesus ought not to live in fear of change. We are praying for change daily when we pray “thy kingdom come thy will be done.”
At Mapleview our desire is to constantly be looking to reform, renew and grow in God’s Will. We over the years have used the language of architecture to present a fresh picture to the people of Barrie about who Gods people are. The human body with Jesus reigning on the throne of a heart is the only true temple of the Holy Spirit. A church campus facility is only a tool to be utilized to capture the imaginations of the unchurched in the surrounding community. Our facility serves to advance the gospel by of lovingly caring for our community.
Our two fold vision approach embraces community needs in a practical sense with out excluding our own needs for worship, prayer, Christian education, and fellowship. Facilities (like ours) used for multiple functions are optimal in the 21st century when seeking to facilitate ministry and steward donated funds. Our 18 acres of church property is truly an asset for residents of Barrie in addition to being used to advance the Kingdom of God around the globe.
The Promised Land Gala
Mapleview is a buzz as we prepare to launch Project Overflow, a capital stewardship campaign raising funds for:
- Debt Reduction
- Facilitating Ministry in our Church, Community & City, and
- Missions: Reaching people with the Gospel in Canada and around the world!
Everyone who calls Mapleview Community Church their home church is invited to the Project Overflow: Promised Land Gala where we gather for a night of food, entertainment, community and hearing the Vision for the next three years at MCC!
See you on the 29th!!!
The Task Facility Building Concept: Part One
In the Old Testament the primary function of the Temple was as a place of sacrifice in addition to being a place of worship. However, with the coming of the church age on the day of Pentecost came a new kind of temple. For approximately 300 years after the day of Pentecost the Christian faith only met in houses. The people of God themselves became the temple of the Holy Spirit. Christianity had no institutions, no set rituals, no temples and was unique in every way. The early church was very flexible, and adaptable. In the year 327 A.D. the Roman emperor Constantine changed all that with the construction of nineteen buildings. One in Bethlehem, two in Jerusalem, nine in Constantinople, and seven in the city of Rome. These new buildings were seen as shrines and where named after first century saint’s. These same buildings later came to be known as churches. Over the year’s stained glass windows, pews, pulpits, choir lofts, hymnbooks, came to be known as the church. Where as these all play a role they are never to be confused with the real church – those people in the community with a real and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
Please remember In Christ’s coming to earth the tabernacle of God moved from bricks and mortar into the hearts of men and women. The Temple of the Holy Spirit became men and women and New Testament life in Christ concentrated directly at the doing of worship, and not on where it was done. Jesus modeled that the task of worship was always more important than the tool of worship.
What happens inside a person is always more important than the building that it is happening in. We must be careful not to pay homage to a lifeless building. Historically, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada began with an out-pouring of the Holy Spirit in brush arbors, tents, and small storefronts. Hardly places that one would expect to become a worldwide movement. Yet, a world wide movement has occurred and we must never loose the elastic, flexible, and adaptable roots that we began with.

Overflowing Into Our Church
The church vision was established in 1997 and has been consistent since inception. The vision remains as current today as when I penned the following words from his heart fourteen years ago.
Summed up in the three words Give, Grow, Go, the Mapleview vision presses forward in 2011 with Project Overflow. Possessing a new millennium mindset as well as understanding that The 21st century is a sight and sound generation filled with images from Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and blogs. Mapleview remains committed to the “pioneering spirit” that has advance our vision this far. While true that the days have become increasingly challenging our church body must not shrink back from making the difficult choice to give generously at this time. Our burden for reaching the lost will be reflected in our hearts of charity.
